A symposium on Advances in Pediatric Surgeryˇ± will be held jointly by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles, California and Capital Institute of Pediatrics at the Beijing Great Wall Sheraton Hotel on May 10 th 2005. Dr. Steve Chi-Long Chen, Dr. Gregory Paul Fontana and Dr. Moise Danielpour of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as well as Dr. Hui Ye and Dr. Jidong Ma from Capital Institute of Pediatrics will be giving lectures on new developments in pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric thoracic surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, pediatric urology surgery and neonatal surgery. Hundreds of well-known pediatric experts and professors will be invited to the Seminar for academic exchanges and discussions. The symposium is the third professional academic exchange held by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in China since May 2004. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center has a history of over one hundred years of operations. During this time Cedars Sinai Medical Center has developed into one of the largest nonprofit medical institutions in the Western United States. It is consistently rated as one of the top healthcare facilities in the entire United States. Since May 2004, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and The ChinaCare Group have cooperated to plan and to successfully hold a series of professional academic symposia including one on ˇ°Advances in Cardiovascular Surgery ˇ° held in May 2004 in conjunction with Beijing Fuwai Hospital for Cardiovascular Disease; and one on ˇ°Advances in Neurosurgeryˇ± held in November 2004 with Shanghai Huashan Hospital. Capital Institute of Pediatrics is affiliated with the Capital University of Medical Sciences, is the first research institute on pediatric healthcare and pediatric diseases. Its departments of Cardiosurgery, Urology, Tumor and Orthopedics take a lead in the field of domestic pediatric surgery. The first high-tech laboratory in pediatrics was built in the institute. Dr. Ye, the Director of Pediatric Surgery of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics will make a speech on Advances in Pediatric Urology. Dr. Ma, the Vice-Director of Pediatric Surgery of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics will make another speech of Advances in Neonatal Surgery.
